One of the coolest books I have ever shared with the Tuesday evening Montana History group at the Marias Heritage Center is Ed Kemmick's "The Big Sky, By and By-True Tales, Real People and Strange Times in the Heart of Montana" and tomorrow afternoon (Friday at 4:35PM, Easy Ed is my special guest on the Puffman Show
just finished reading Ex-MSU coach Joe Obrien's sobering life story, "Busted Bronco: From Addition to Redemption" and it truly was a page turner. I think I read it in two days and it actually is "one of those books you don't WANT to put down. Joe is going to join me on the Puffman Show this Friday afternoon at 4:35 and I'm more than anxious to have him on my program. Joe's the guy, who while coaching at MSU back in 2001, was arrested down in Townsend, charged with operating a ring bringing meth into Bozeman, and spending over two years in the federal slammer.
Most of you know that my middle name is "sports" and I'll be adding to that legend this afternoon (Friday) at 4:35PM when I talk with John Greenburg. Greenburg probably knows as much or more about sports as I do as he already written several book on legendary college football teams and hall of fame coaches
I've always been curious about those "Wal-Mart Greeters". I mean, who are they, where do they come from, did they used to work, why would ANYONE in their right mind want to stand at the front doors and greet the "Walmartians" as they enter the store. Believe me, I've seen my share of "Walmartians" on e-mail "forwards" and it's looks like a pretty strange neighborhood to me. Last evening, I was reading Montana History at the Heritage Center here in Shelby.
don't know how many of you read the cover story in this Tuesday's Great Falls Tribune but it caught my attention. It was headlined "Convicted felon seeks redemption" and it was a lengthy article about former Montana State football assistant coach Joe O'Brien. I recall reading the Associated Press news article on the air back in 2003 when O'Brien was nabbed by a swarm of cops down in Townsend, Montana. O'Brien had been coaching at MSU at the time. I had really forgotten all about the story or whatever became of him until Tuesday's article caught my attention. Long story short...O'Brien served over two years and a quarter years (28 months) in the federal slammer for bringing an estimated 360 grams of meth into Gallatin County from a connection in California.
You could have knocked me over with a feather this morning when I reported for duty at our KSEN/K 96 studios. I perused our weekend sports schedule and noted that our sports play-by-play man was going to
As summer slowly slips away and Labor Day comes bounding in, it's time to draw the curtain on the Old Fishing Hole for another season. This weekend's program will be the last until spring. It seems like only a second ago that it was the first week in May and I was getting ready for this summer's programs
I can't believe how fast this summer has come and ALMOST gone! This evening marks our first high school football game of the year and to me, the fall season brings football, cool evenings, and the wonderful smell of a bonfire in the background
