(Choteau) – KSEN/K96 – Bozeman trophy Athletes of the week both hail from Choteau this week as the Bulldogs continue right where they left off last year in basketball and wrestling.

Our male athlete of the week appears to be on track to another outstanding season after winning the state wrestling championship at 103 pounds last year. Now a senior, Chase DeBoo is off to a fast start with 7 wins and o-losses and two championships under his belt. Still wrestling at 103, DeBoo won the championship of the Forsyth tournament with a 3-0 record………pinning his 3 opponents in a total time of 4:15 seconds.  That included a :21 pin of Billings Central’s Tyler Reichert in the championship match. Chase had also pinned two opponents in Lewistown the night before the Forsyth Tournament and he won the championship match of the Cascade tournament in the opening weekend.   Chase is now sporting an overall career record of 82-29.

And our first female basketball athlete of the week, Junior Payton Durocher of the Choteau lady bulldogs. A returning starter from the Bulldogs’ state tournament team kast year has a wealth of experience after also getting a lot of playing time as a freshman.    Her veteran status showed up early as Choteau ended up in a shootout with Shepherd in the opening tournament at Manhattan.   Shepherd is expected to be among the favorites from the southern division this season and they did get the overtime win over the lady bulldogs 59-56 Friday, but not without a battle from Durocher who had 23 points and was 13-17 from the free throw line. She also went 4-4 and scored 10 in Choteau’s win over Whitehall Saturday.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week - senior Chase Deboo and Payton Durocher both of Choteau. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonalds of Cut Bank. McDonalds provides our athletes with two free value meals each.
