Mary Ellen Pethel captures the spirit & legacy of single-gender education over the past 150 years in her tome, "All-Girls Education fro Ward Seminary to Harpeth Hall, 1865-2015," & this hardback narrative is up for grabs this afternoon (Monday) at 4:35 on Puffman Musical Trivia. During the final days of the Civil War, Dr. William Ward & his wife, Eliza Ward, envisioned a school for young women in Nashville that would evolve into one of the nation's most prestigious institutions. Her book reflects a unique case study & provides a lens through which to understand the evolution of all-girls education in the United States. It's a heady subject for sure, but my Puffman Musical Trivia question should be a ton of fun as we'll flash back to 1957, & one of the original rock n' rollers from the 50's. 1st person in with the correct answer to my musical trivia question this afternoon WINS the book published by The History Press (www.historypress.net.)
