Our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week are definite leaders on their teams and in one case, a leader in the state and nation.

Male Athlete of the Week honors go to Browning Sr. Justin Andersen, a defensive end who is currently leading the state in “sacks,” with 20.5, according to Max preps.  In Browning’s final game, a heartbreaking, double-overtime loss to Stevensville, Justin added his final 4.5 sacks to the tally and also had a couple of receptions on offense. Browning Head Coach Ansel Traynor says Justin is a humble individual and “very underrated,” in the coaches' opinion.  He tells us that Justin has great speed, chases down ballcarriers and “won’t quit until the whistle blows.” Andersen is also a top track athlete who competed at the State Track meet last year on the team’s 1600 meter relay team.  In the classroom, he is also top-notch with a 3.9 GPA, and a unified partner with Special Olympics.  His nominator let us know that he has a sister who is autistic and it became important to him to help his fellow classmates to compete in the games that they do.

Female Athlete of the Week honors go to Valier Volleyball standout Abby Bock, a Sr. Middle Blocker, and Co-Captain.   Valier Coach Rhandi Eagle Speaker “puts in a lot of time to improve her game,” and it shows up on both offense and defense.  Abby has led the team all season with kills and digs, usually in double digits and is typically a leader in blocks, serving and serve-receive. In a recent matchup with the league’s best, Simms Tigers, Bock put down 13 kills and hit 100-percent from the serving line.  Coach Eagle Speaker says she’s an aggressive player at the net and in the back row, always hustling to make sure “no ball hits the floor.”

Also nominated this week, Valier Sr. Center and defensive lineman Chance Peterson who recorded an amazing 13 tackles in the Panther’s matchup with Geraldine/Highwood.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Sr. Abby Bock of Valier and Sr. Justin Andersen from Browning. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonalds’ honors our athlete’s with two free value meals each.
