Our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week both come from Shelby this week as the Coyotes swept their weekly Volleyball matches and got a big win on the football field over CJI.

Female Athlete of the Week honors go to Sr. back row setter, hitter and middle blocker, Bailey Johnson.  As you could probably tell from that introduction, Bailey is asked to do a lot in all rotations and Coach Jessica Brusven says she has been a key player throughout the season……an outstanding server and setter, a consistent hitter and blocker at the net as well. In the Shelby win over Conrad she led the team with 10 kills, 9 assists, 4 digs, 2 blocks and went 18-18 from the serving line.  In the Coyotes win over Cut Bank Tues. night Johnson once again led the team in kills with 9 and added 6 assists.   Bailey, as a Sr. is a 4-year letter winner, much of those 4 years as a starter in both Volleyball and Basketball.

Injuries force changes in many sports at all levels and in the early stages it’s been a very successful change for Sr. Tanner Parsons and the Shelby Coyotes.  Head Coach Mike White threw Parsons into the starting role at QB after he handled the position well leading the Coyotes to a comeback that fell just short against Centerville. In the starting role from the beginning against CJI last week, Parsons came out firing with an early TD pass to Cameron Brusven, then ran for a 7-yard Touchdown and threw 2 more TD passes to Brusven to lead the Coyotes to a 42-2 win. Shelby Head Coach Mike White was quoted in the Shelby Promoter said he did an excellent job at QB and showed his versatility and focus.  Parsons is also a top notch starter on the Coyote Basketball team and just an overall top quality athlete.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Sr. Tanner Parsons of Shelby and Sr. Bailey Johnson of Shelby.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank.  McDonald’s honors our Athletes of the Week with two free value meals each.
