Our KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week turned in exceptional performance on the track and, for the first time this year, the softball field.

Our male athlete of the week is a first time winner of the award, in fact, he's a first time track and field participant in this neck of the woods. Shelby senior Wade Luly has been a continual winner this season in the 400M and a top contender in the 200M. In the 400M, Luly won the event at the Bigfork invitational with less than ideal weather conditions. Statewide he currently has the 12th best time and the third best time among class B runners. He also had a second place finish in the 200M in Bigforkand ran the anchor position on Shelby's first place 1600M relay team. Interesting to note that Luly was a member of Ennis' state C championship a year ago and a member of their state champion 1600M relay team. Shelby is happy to have him.

Our female athlete of the week has won this award in volleyball and basketball numerous times in the past, but this is her first time for her play in softball. That may be hard to comprehend as she has been the starting catcher for the Cut Bank Lady Wolves for the past three seasons. Cut Bank coach Mike Pyette says Marissa has always been a quality player not only in the defensive position, but with the bat as well. In four games of the Lewistown tournament, Marissa knocked two balls out of the park, had three singles and a pair of doubles, along with five stolen bases and four RBIs.

Also nominated this week, and we strongly considered, Cut Bank sophomore Kamdyn Molenda, who recorded her personal best in the long jump at 15 feet, three inches, finishing third in the Easter meet at Cut Bank last Thursday. She has also pre-qualified for the state meet in the 100M with a time of 13.3 seconds.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 - Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week; senior Wady Luly of Shelby and senior Marissa VandenBos of Cut Bank. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athletes with two free value meals each.

And we encourage fans, coaches, teammates and parents to nominate athletes of the week. If you think they've had an exceptional performance email me at mark.daniels@townsquaremedia.com.
