Our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week have been as good as it gets all season long and now that the playoffs are here, they’re just as good if not better.

Female Athlete of the Week honors go to Choteau Sr. Nicole Krone, one of the Bulldogs great hitters who has consistently led them in kills over the last two years.   It should be noted too that some of the pressure has been taken off Nicole with the growth of Jr. Ellie Lee at the net.  Lee led the team in kills with 48 in the Dawgs 4 matches last weekend, but Krone comes up with big plays consistently all across the floor. She was 2nd on the team in serve aces with 11 and had a 91-percent put it in play rating.  In 37-40 chances she received serves and put them in play and added 32 digs.  Krone is a returning 1st Team, All-Conference, All-State player from a year ago. In regard to the Divisional Championship, team-oriented Head Coach Ann Funk said, “many of our kids played well, and it was a great team effort.”

Our Male Athlete of the Week could win this award every week and no one would argue with it.   Sr. QB Keeley Bake, as Head Coach Les Meyer put it, “had another pretty good day at the office.” Bake is a dangerous ball carrier with Home Run speed and in the quarterfinal win over Florence-Carlton he carried the ball 19 times for 171 yards and 1 TD.  He also passed for 134 yards and 3 TD’s on 11-15 completions. His defensive play might not be as noticeable but it is surely good.  He had two interceptions in the win over Townsend and last week as noted by Coach Meyer, he shadowed the Falcons best receiver who had 3 receptions but “very little impact,” after the 2nd play of the game.”

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week, Sr. Keeley Bake of Fairfield and Sr. Nicole Krone of Choteau.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals each.
