KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week both played big roles in advancing their teams one step further in the postseason. When I asked the coach of our female athlete of the week, what she does especially well on the floor, she answered, "Everything".

North Toole County Head Volleyball coach Kourtney Pace was referring to her senior captain, Katara Ryan, who led the Refiners to a third place finish in the 6C West District Tournament and an advancement to the Northern C Divisional. That, after a fifth place seed heading into the tournament. Ryan plays in every rotation and had especially good overall numbers against two of the best in the district with eleven kills, three blocks and nine digs against Valier and eleven kills and five blocks against the eventual champion Simms Tigers. Coach Pace also told us that Katara is serving at an amazing 97% clip and that she has only missed three or four times all year.

Our male athlete of the week, again, comes out of a handful of players who had huge first round playoff performances. While we recognize a great team performance in Shelby's win over Huntley Project, we also can't overlook the performance by junior quarterback, Aaron White. Coach Mike White says he thought it was Aaron's best game of the year as he completed thirty of forty-six passes for a whopping 408 yards and five touchdowns. The final drive covered 73 yards and the Coyotes threw on every play except the last. Coach White noted that his offensive line allowed no sacks on the day in 46 pass attempts and that was a key.

Another nominee this week was Coyote wide received, Andrew Johnson, who had two touchdown receptions and we note that Zach Torgerson and Logan Watson also had big catches in that final drive.

Also nominated was North Toole County's Treyton Pickering who had three touchdown receptions in the Refiner's playoff win over White Sulphur Springs. He also had an interception return that coach Dean Lerum said he first tipped up and then caught...something you had to see to appreciate.

And finally, receiver Colton Curry of Valier who had three touchdown receptions in Valier's 56-0 route of West Yellowstone.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week...Junior Aaron Whtie of the Shelby Coyotes and senior Katara Ryan of the Sunburst Refiners. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athletes with two free value meals each.
