Firefighters got a break from the weather Monday, as cooler temperatures and higher humidity settled the Spotted Eagle Fire and limited its spread, at least temporarily. At last report, the leading edge of the fire was still 1-1/2 miles from Heart Butte. Today's weather forecast calls for higher temperatures, lower humidity and strong winds.

The Blackfeet Tribal Council has lifted the evacuation order for residents east of BIA Rte 1, including the Heart Butte town site. Residents west of BIA Rte 1 remain under evacuation order. BIA Rte 1 remains closed from the Heart Butte-East Glacier cut across  road to the Badger Creek road.

Heart Butte schools are closed today to allow families to get home and settle in. Classes will resume on Wednesday 9-2-15.

No structures are reported to have been affected by the Spotted Eagle Fire.
