IT’S OUR FIRST ATHLETE OF THE WEEK PRESENTATION FOR THE SPRING SPORTS AND RIGHT OFF THE BAT, TWO OUTSTANDING ATHLETE’S SET THE STAGE FOR EVEN BIGGER THINGS TO COME.

THE MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS CONRAD SR. DAYLON JAY.    ASKED ABOUT HIS PERFORMANCE, CONRAD HEAD COACH JIM CARROLL SAYS IT WAS AN OUTSTANDING DAY FOR DAYLON BUT WE’RE EXPECTING EVEN BIGGER THINGS TO COME.

ON THE OPENING DAY OF THE SEASON IN CUT BANK, JAY WON BOTH THE 100 AND THE LONG JUMP AND FINISHED 2ND IN THE TRIPLE JUMP.   HIS 21-FT, 1 AND A HALF INCHES IN THE LONG JUMP WAS A PERSONAL BEST AND WAS BETTER THAN HIS JUMP AT THE STATE MEET WHERE HE FINISHED 6TH LAST YEAR.    THE TRIPLE JUMP WAS ALSO A PERSONAL BEST AND THE 11.36 IN THE 100M IS ALSO BETTER THAN LAST YEAR AT THIS POINT.

ON THE GIRLS SIDE THERE WERE NUMEROUS EYE-OPENING PERFORMANCES BUT MOSTLY FROM ATHLETES WHO WE’VE COME TO EXPECT AT THE TOP OF THE HEAP.

OUR FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS CHOTEAU JR. PAYGE DUROCHER WHO WON THE 100 AND 200 METER DASH WITH VERY GOOD TIMES FOR THE START OF THE SEASON.    PAYGE FINISH 5TH BEST IN THE STATE IN THE 100 LAST YEAR AND IS HOPING TO IMPROVE ON THAT.  ON SATURDAY SHE ALSO WAS PART OF THE WINNING CHOTEAU RELAY TEAM WHICH IS THE DEFENDING STATE CHAMPION 400M RELAY TEAM.

PAYGE IS ALSO A STARTER ON THE CHOTEAU BASKETBALL TEAM AND WAS A 2ND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTION.
