HELENA, Mont. (AP) — The state Board of Pardons and Parole is scheduled to meet April 29 to consider Barry Beach's application for clemency in the 1979 killing of a Poplar teen. Beach is asking the board to reduce his life prison sentence and make him eligible for parole or a commutation from Gov. Steve Bullock. Beach was released from prison in 2011 when a judge ordered a new trial. The Montana Supreme Court overturned the judge's decision.

According to @triblowdown reporter John S. Adams moments ago, Governor Bullock will ask the Montana Board of Pardons and Parole not to consider Beach's guilt or innocence, but whether or not Beach has served his time.

Bullock:  Beach committed his crime as a juvenile and has served over 30 years. He has conducted himself appropriately both inside and outside of prison.
