Athletes of the Week

KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy athletes of the week turned in big performances on the wrestling mat and on the hardwood.

Both of our athletes of the week come from Fairfield where the Lady Eagles continue to be among the top teams in the Northern Division and where the Fairfield/Simms wrestling team had the best local team finish at the Choteau Classic.

Our female athlete of the week is Fairfield senior forward Allix Goldhahn, a Montana State UniveristyNorthern commit, who is taking on an increasing role as a scorer in Fairfield. Fairfield head coach Dustin Gordon called the Eagles’ win over Rocky Boy, “pretty significant”, last weekend and Goldhahn had a lot to do with it. In fact, she was a major factor with a career-high 29-points, five assists, three steals and no turnovers. Defense is also a big part of Goldhahn’s game as she draws the opponents’ biggest offensive threat in the man and expends a lot of energy in the zone. Coach Gordon says she will typically draw the opponents’ best defender when the Eagles have the ball, so creating the shooting opportunities for her has taken a little time.

Our male athlete of the week, senior Dawson Peterman of the Fairfield/Simms wrestling co-op had a third place finish in the CMR Holiday Invitational and then in the New Year has won the Cut Bank Invitational and last weekend’s Choteau Classic. He was a second-place finisher at the state meet last year at 138 and now wrestling at 152, Fairfield head coach Mike May says he’s definitely bigger and stronger and he’s always been physical. Peterman is 19-2 this year and the number one ranked wrestler at 152. One of those losses happened at the CMR tournament, but the other one doesn’t really even count as he moved up to 160 in a mixer in Choteau to take a shot at state-champion Taner Stone. Stone won the match, but Coach May says Peterman held his own.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 – Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week; Senior Allix Goldhahn of Fairfield and senior Dawson Peterman of Fairfield. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cu tBank. McDonald’s honors our athletes with two free value meals each.

And we encourage fans, coaches, teammates and parents to nominate athletes of the week. If you think they’ve had an exceptional performance email me at mark.daniels@townsquaremedia.com.
