Great Falls' Children's Receiving Home is competing for $250,000 from the Home Depot Foundation in their Facebook Contest Finale. The Electric City home is the April 2011 winner of $25,000 from The Home Depot in The Home Depot Foundation's year-long Facebook voting program. The program's called "Aprons in Action" and the Great Falls home is competing against 10 other monthly winners for $250,000 in the final round of the contest. Voting begins today, March 1st and runs through the end of this month. The organization with the most votes at the end of the month will win the $250,000 grand prize. During this "Aprons in Action Contest, which began last April, Home Depot Facebook fans have already helped 11 nonprofit organizations win $25,000 each to better their communities. The Great Falls Children's Receiving home is a temporary and emergency shelter care facility for children, ages 0 to 18, who have been removed from their home of origin (and parental caretakers) due to issues of child abuse and neglect. Since opening their doors back in 1966, over 10,000 Montana kids have called this agency "home". Since June of last year, the Great Falls facility has been running at FULL capacity (caring for 14 children) due to a community epidemic of child abuse and neglect cases. Carrie Galvex, executive director of the Great Falls Children's Receiving Home says, "If we actually win the grand prize of $250,000, it would transform our organization because we would be able to continue upgrades withour "home" and provide needed items for hundreds of local children who have been removed from their families' houses due to child abuse and/or neglect. So we encourage everyone to go to Facebook and vote for us!" I second that motion! Aprons in Action is on Facebook at For more information on the home, check out
