We'll be reading about the late disgraced labor leader, Tony Boyle, during Montana History tonight (Tuesday) at the Heritage Center. Boyle was from Montana. We're currently caught up in the history of the 1943 coal mining disaster in Bearcreek, Montana. One morning back in 1943, close to 80 men descended into the Smith coal mine in Bearcreek. Only 3 came out alive! "Goodbye wifes & daughters," wrote 2 of the minders as they died. The story of that tragic day & its aftermath comes at you like a runaway freight train coming at you 100 mph in Susan Kushner Renick's book, Goodbye Wifes and Daughters. I'm looking forward to reading & sharing more Montana History this evening at 6 up at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby.
