(SHELBY) – KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week faced the call of duty and stepped into the role that needed to be filled.

Our male athlete of the week needed to run the ball in the beginning and maybe give a slightly sore quarterback time to warm up and in the second half, he needed to be a receiver and receive he did! Zach Torgerson responded to both calls with 30 carries and 145 yards and one touchdown. Most of the yardage was in the first half. In the second half, Missoula Loyola plugged the holes and Aaron White was warmed up. Coach Mike White says it all worked out pretty well and "it was a really good feeling." Down the stretch, Torgerson was White's primary target and he ended with seven catches for 87 yards and the game tying touchdown. Zach had over 220 yards and two scores on the day. One of our nominators said Zach "put the offense on his back" and that sometimes he goes unrecognized for his very friendly low ego. Nice compliment and we agree! We would be remiss if we didn't mention that at least two other Coyotes were considered. Aaron White, who delivered the ball to Torgerson and others with 235 yards and three touchdowns passing...and Wyatt Brusven whose field goals and extra points have now won three playoff games in a row and he had two touchdowns and literally tore the ball out of the hands of a Missoula receiver to the Shelby the ball back for that game-winning drive.

At the state volleyball tournament, the Coyotes were handed an unexpected blow  when junior setter and hitter, Skyler Martin became ill. Coach Ron Buck says with that we had to move sophomore Brook Luly in as a setter and, in his words "she performed admirably with a team-leading 17 assists and 18 digs in the  Coyotes will over Eureka. She also had two aces and nine kills in that Eureka match, including the game winner. For the tournament, Brook had 11 kills and five aces. We also note that senior, Lexi Robison, Seemed to step it up big in the Eureka win with seven blocks.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week - sophomore Brook Luly of Shelby and senior, Zach Torgerson of Shelby. The athlete of the week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athletes with two free value meals each.
