(CHOTEAU) – “He lit it up and that was nice to see” those the words of Choteau head football coach Lucas Gunderson describing the play of junior quarterback Johnny Rappold, our first KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the week for the 2018 season.

Gunderson told MT 406 Sports that "We knew he had a good arm and he's really progressed."

Rappold had a huge game int he opener that gave the Bulldogs a 34-28 win over Ennis a playoff team from a year ago that had advanced all the way to the semi-finals.

The first year started looked more and more comfortable int he pocket as the game progressed, hitting Bryce Gramm and Kyler Crabtree for continual big gainers and moving the Bulldogs down the field.

He ended the night with four touchdown passes, two to Gramm and 14 of 24 for a total of 220 yards passing a Choteau win.

Gunderson also told 406 Sports that Rapppold is a "farm kid who lives thirty miles out of town, but he's still in the weight room every morning."

Congratulations to our first KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy athlete of the week, junior Johnny Rappold of Choteau. The Athlete of the week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athletes of the week with two free value meals each.
