I graduated from Shelby High School in 1981, went into the broadcast communications program at the College of Great Falls for two years, then came to work at KSEN in the spring of 1983. I left KSEN in 1991 to not get a job with a sports team or network. I ended up with the Hardee's restaurant franchise for eight years, and in 1999 got back into radio in Great Falls. I married my wonderful wife Ronni in 2001 and came back to Shelby when she got the job as the elementary music teacher here. There happened to be a job opening at KSEN when we moved up here, so...I'm baaaackkk...

The Big Sky State Games has selected Choteau's Whitney Sherrard as one of five finalists to sing the national anthem at this summer's Big Sky State Games opening ceremonies. They are asking the people of Montana to decide which of the finalists will perform July 20...
Professional Sports Teams With Insect Mascots
Don't get me started on team mascots. I won't get anything else done for the rest of the day.
As his sports trivia question today, Mark asked what was the first professional sports team to have an insect as a mascot or team nickname. Randy Gramm (of course) jumped right in and answered "Charlotte Hornets", which was a good answer, but made my spidey sense tingle...
It’s Official: Shelby Softball #1 In East!
Conrad softball coach Sandy Syverson told me that the Stillwater softball team from the Columbus area has officially forfeited its conference makeup game with Shelby for tonight. The two teams were tied at 5-1 going into that game, so the forfeit pushed the Coyotes to their first division softball title, and the number one seed for this week's Eastern Division tournament in Cut Bank...

Softball Teams In Lewistown
The final week of the high school softball regular season will be a busy one for our local teams, and could serve as a preview for next week's divisional tournament in Cut Bank. The Stillwater team from Columbus is the only Eastern team not playing in Lewistown Friday and Saturday...
Is Batman A Super Hero?
A conversation on ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike in the Morning renewed a point I debated myself years ago:
Should Batman be considered a super hero?
Look at the classic super heros. Superman could fly, had super strength and speed, x-ray vision, etc...
Taking Care Of Trees, Thanks To Toole County Extension!
My house is back there, somewhere...
As you can see, I have two massive pine trees in my front yard, so I appreciated the information Toole County Extension Agent Alice Burchak shared on her Extension Minute in the noon hour Monday. I had a couple small brown spots show up on the south side of my trees last winter, and now I know why...
You ‘Heart’ Shelby? Show It!
On KSEN's Monday Shelby Chamber report, Audie Bancroft mentioned she has these new "I 'heart' Shelby stickers for sale. These clings, designed by Barbie Alvestad's new graphics business, are just $5, and are great for showing your support of your favorite town, to send to former Shelby-ites (...
50 Or Older? Be An Olympian!
The Montana Senior Olympics is coming to Great Falls again this year. The games are open to individuals 50 years of age and over, and you don't have to run forty miles per hour or powerlift a car to be good enough to participate! Sports include archery, bowling, golf, horseshoes, racquetball and table tennis...
Play Ball! Watch Ball!
After a discouraging weekend, our softball teams get right back on the field in Conrad. Cut Bank will play the Cowgirls this afternoon at 4:30, while Shelby and Conrad will battle at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon, with a JV game to follow. It's not going to be rainy and windy, so get out and cheer on your team...
Softball Update: Games In Shelby Friday Only
Because of last night's rains, the Conrad Invitational softball tournament has effectively been washed out. I'm told the Stillwater team made it just a few miles out of Columbus before they turned back. Glasgow did make it here, though, and because our local teams need to get conference games played with the Scotties, Shelby has agreed to host games today on their relatively dry field...

Rainy And Cold? Time For Softball In Conrad!
The Conrad Invitational softball tournament is this weekend, and sure enough, the forecast says rain and snow possible with highs in the 40s. Nobody's surprised. This is such a good tournament, well run at a great facility, and I can only remember one or two years when they had two days of pretty good weather...
Ice Breaker — Was I The Only One Not Running Sunday?
From my plate of nachos next to my recliner, my congratulations to all the area participants in the Ice Breaker road race in Great Falls Sunday. By my quick count, over 400 Northern Montanans took part in the one mile race (139 area runners), the three mile race (208), and the five mile race (75)...
