CROSSING THE GOAL LINE AND RACKING UP BIG YARDAGE HAS BECOME COMMON FOR OUR KSEN/K96—BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK AND OUR FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS PART OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL VOLLEYBALL TEAM YEAR AFTER YEAR IN THE 1B DISTRICT.

THE CHOTEAU BULLDOGS ARE ONCE AGAIN UNDEFEATED IN CONFERENCE PLAY AT 7-0 AND HAVE LOST ONLY ONCE THIS SEASON TO DEFENDING CLASS C CHAMPION MANHATTAN CHRISTIAN.

OBVIOUSLY IT’S A WELL ROUNDED TEAM ONCE AGAIN WITH NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS PLAYING KEY ROLES. OUR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK, SR. ELLIE LEE PUT UP SOME IMPRESSIVE NUMBERS IN CHOTEAU’S 3-1 WIN OVER THE 2ND BEST TEAM IN THE DISTRICT, FAIRFIELD LAST WEEK.

IN THE OVERALL LEE HAD 16 KILLS AND A KEY BLOCK WITH 2 ASSIST BLOCKS. AS IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE CHOTEAU ACANTHA, CHOTEAU HAD A 5-0 LEAD IN THE 3RD SET BUT FAIRFIELD CAME ROARING BACK WITH THE MATCH TIED AT ONE GAME EACH. THE EAGLES TIED THE GAME 8 TIMES AND FINALLY TOOK THE LEAD AT 20-19. FOLLOWING A TIMEOUT, AS IT WAS DESCRIBED, “LEE CRUSHED A KILL,” TO TIE THE GAME. SHE HIT ANOTHER BIG KILL TO TAKE THE LEAD AT 22-20 AND THEN GOT THEM THE SERVE BACK WITH A BLOCK AND CHOTEAU WENT ON TO WIN THE SET AND WENT ON TO WIN GAME 4 25-10.

IT WAS A GOOD WEEK FOR THE SR. PLAYER WHO WAS ALSO NAME CHOTEAU’S HOMECOMING QUEEN.

IF YOU’VE SEEN THE SIMMS TIGERS PLAY THIS YEAR THEN YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH JR. MIKEY LEACH WHO HAS HELPED LEAD SIMMS TO A 4-1 RECORD. IN THE TIGERS VICTORY OVER CHINOOK LAST WEEKEND, LEACH RUSHED FOR MORE THAN 350-YARDS AND 4 TD’S WITH 3 EXTRA POINTS.

IT WAS A SLUGFEST WITH CHINOOK WHO LED THE TIGERS 42-40 AT THE HALF, BUT THE SIMMS DEFENSE STEPPED UP IN THE 2ND HALF AND WENT ON TO WIN 78-42. SIMMS HEAD COACH JAY FREDRICKSON SAID ABOUT HIS JR. RUNNING BACK, “HE’S REALLY GOOD AND HE MADE A LOT OF TACKLES IN THAT DEFENSIVE EFFORT.”

ON THE DEFENSE HE PLAYS THE MIDDLE LINEBACKER BUT THEY DID HAVE TO TAKE HIM OUT OF THE MIDDLE TO TRY AND JAM CHINOOK’S 6-8 RECEIVER WHO WASN’T GETTING COVERED. THE COACH SAYS LEACH IS A CAPTAIN, A LEADER AND WELL RESPECTED ON AND OFF THE FIELD. THE WIN WAS BIG AS IT GAVE SIMMS A 2ND PLACE FINISH IN THEIR SUB-DIVISION AND A HOME FIELD PLAYOFF SPOT.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR KSEN/K96—BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK, SR. ELLIE LEE OF CHOTEAU AND JR. MIKEY LEACH OF SIMMS. THE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS SPONSORED LOCALLY BY McDONALD’S IN CUT BANK. McDONALD’S HONORS OUR ATHLETE’S WITH TWO FREE VALUE MEALS EACH.
