Here we go once again………recognizing the outstanding performances of high school athletes in our area through the KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week.

We have two outstanding performances to start the year off right.  Our female athlete of the week is Shelby junior, Madison Underdal.   First year head coach, Jessica Brusven says Underdal at 5’9” is a “force on the court, in all aspects of the game.” In the season-opening tournament in Choteau, she led the team in kills and blocks but was also number two on the team in serving aces and is a highly reliable passer. Through the 12 matches in the tournament, Underdahl had 11 aces, an impressive 52 kills and 16 blocks. Coach Brusven says she has made outstanding progress in the first two weeks of the season and she’s anxious to see what the rest of the season brings. Shelby had some other impressive performances as well and fought to a 4th place finish overall in the Choteau invitational.

Our male athlete was a big part of Conrad’s success in the opening game of the season. While there were a number of notable performances, Carson Bitney’s overall play and leadership on both offense and defense tipped the scales. The biggest play statistically was his 74-yard touchdown catch in which he broke several tackles to take it to the house and put Conrad up 7-0 in the 1st quarter.   Bitney also had two interceptions to stop Deer Lodge drives, but maybe the biggest of all……second year head coach Keith Munson says two of his unassisted tackles on the corner were touchdown stoppers and that was big.  In all he had four solo’s and six assists. Carson is also versatile, he can kick, he stepped in at quarterback when Caden Huntsinger was temporarily hurt and he had 35 yards rushing.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week; junior Madison Underdahl of Shelby and junior Carson Bitney of Conrad.  The athlete of the week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in cut bank.   McDonald’s honors our athletes with two free value meals each.
