Who’s the Parent Here?
That was my knee-jerk reaction to the news stories today about Billy Ray Cyrus' interview in GQ. He says his family is in shambles and his pop-star daughter Miley's life is spiraling out of control. And it's Disney's fault, he says. Here's the whole GQ article:
Billy Ray admits he has never been able to discipline his kids. He wanted to be Miley's friend more than he wanted to be her parent. He saw trouble coming for Miley and didn't stand up for her and try to stop it. But it's "not his fault". Anybody buying that? If so, Billy Ray's also got a new album he'll sell you...it's mentioned a few times in the article.
I feel sorry for Miley. I pray this is not another young Hollywood train wreck about to happen.
She's legally an adult now, so the decisions, good or bad, are hers from here on out. Hopefully she'll throttle back before it's too late.
