What Time Will the Oscars Be On?

Nobody makes movies like Hollywood makes movies, so every year it’s important that we take several moments to congratulate them for their entertaining efforts. And make fun of what they’re wearing. No moment is better than the Oscars, which will air on ABC, Sunday, February 26th at 7 p.m. Eastern, 4 p.m. Pacific and all times in between.

After a snafu when original host Eddie Murphy pulled out because producer Brett Ratner resigned, Billy Crystal is back to work his host-y magic. He’s provided some great moments in Oscars show history, so this year could be a fresh visit to something old school that has been missing for a while. Especially after last year’s Anne Hathaway and James Franco disaster.

Movie fans are looking forward to possible upsets in major categories, like with the acclaimed film ‘The Artist,’ a silent film helmed by a foreign director, which is poised to repeat its Golden Globes Best Picture win. Another nominee to watch is Melissa McCarthy in the Actress In a Supporting Role category. Can a comedy like ‘Bridesmaids’ push her ahead of her close friend Octavia Spencer, who’s nominated for her role in ‘The Help?’

There are a lot of unexpected nominations on the ballot this year, which means there will be some surprises on the show. Sadly, don’t expect to see performances of the Best Original Song nominees. With only two in the category, and a normally overlong show, producers are planning to do away with that tradition. This means no singing Muppets during the broadcast. Unless Billy Crystal has something up his sleeve, or over it. Actually, it’s probably a safe bet that Billy will sing. It wouldn’t be an Oscars without one of his signature nominated movie montage songs.
