This month, May, is OFFICIALLY "National Bladder Cancer Awareness Month." Several weeks ago, 16 advocates representing 12 states joined BCAN were on Capitol Hill to share their personal stories & urge their representatives to take action in supporting a congressional resolution designating May as Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, & to provide additional federal funding for bladder cancer research. As a bladder cancer survivor myself,  I more than appreciate their efforts. Thank you to Senator Menendez from New Jersey with co-sponsors Senator Isakson from Georgia & Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz for introducing SRES 187 in agreement to recognize May as National Bladder Cancer Awareness Month in the Senate. This simple resolution sends a strong message to the community that bladder cancer survivors & their loves ones matter. In the House, Representative Matt Cartwright of Pennsylvania introduced H.RES.282, an awareness resolution with the support of 14 co-sponsors. With the agreement of SRES 187, May is officially National Bladder Cancer Awareness Month!
