How IS Dick Clark doing?
With New Year's Eve fast approaching, many of us will check out Dick Clark's "New Year's Rockin' Eve". It's almost become a yearly tradition. Of course, a few years back, the "ageless teenager" suffered a serious stroke which, more often than not, leaves one with some disability and/or disabilities. There's always seems to be the question after Dick's annual broadcast..."should Dick Clark go on television with his slurred speech and all". There are two sides to the argument but I don't think that's the issue here. The issue is: why did Dick Clark suffer a stroke when he was relatively young and not overweight or a smoker". From what I understand, Dick was a longtime diabetic and unfortunately that's one of the many results of having diabetes. That's why I think it's important to point out that if your glucose is 100 or more, if you're overweight, have experienced increased urination, blurred vision, frequent skin infections or cuts that are slow to heal, you may have symptoms of diabetes or even be at increased risk for the disease. It never hurts to check with your health care provider. In Dick Clark's case, I surmise that the stroke was something that may not have had to occur.
