By the end of the 1931 fire season, 20 firefighters would be KILLED fighting Forest Service blazes. We'll be reading more on this evening (Tuesday) during Montana History up at Shelby's Marias Heritage Center. We're currently reading the book, "Montana's Waldron Creek Fire; The 1931 Tragedy & The Forgotten Five," by Missoula's Dr. Charles Palmer. 5 Men DIED fighting the devastating Waldron Creek Fire west of Choteau, back on August 25, 1931. It's a page turner AND a page "burner" for sure. Hope to see you tonight at 6 for more Montana History at the Heritage. No smoking allowed.
