I'll be up at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby this evening (Tuesday) to read & share MORE Montana History. We'll be delving into acclaimed historian Larry Morris's gripping minute-by-minute saga of the survivors who endured the interminable August night of the 1959 Yellowstone earthquake. S.B. Gilstad calls it "The roar that sounded like the end of the world." The book is, "The 1959 Yellowstone Earthquake," from the History Press & we'll be starting the FIRST chapter tonight! The mammoth avalanche generated hurricane-force winds that ripped the clothing from camper's backs & heaved tidal waves in both directions of the Madison River Canyon. We'll find out more during Montana History commencing at 6 o'clock tonight at the Heritage Center. Be prepared to be FRIGHTENED!
