Time for Grizzlies to Come Home
UM Celebrates Homecoming with “A Fall Affair”– The University of Montana Alumni Association is eager to welcome the community to celebrate Homecoming Week this year between Oct. 7-12 with a theme of “A Fall Affair.”
“We can’t wait to host another Homecoming Week to celebrate the enduring bonds our alumni and friends share with this University,” said LeAnn Layton, UM director of alumni relations. “This year’s theme ‘A Fall Affair’ is fitting as we celebrate our institution’s vibrant traditions during one of the most beautiful times of year on campus, where the beauty of the season enhances the vibrant tapestry of Grizzly pride.”
The following events are sponsored by the UM Alumni Association during Homecoming Week. Each event is open to the public, and media are invited to attend:
- Hello Walk: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8. The Hello Walk will take place on campus in front of Turner Hall. UM students and employees paint “hello” in a welcoming variety of styles and languages.
- Griz on Tap: 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10. Griz on Tap will take place at Red’s Bar at 217 S. Ryman St. in downtown Missoula.
- Distinguished Alumni Awards: 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11. The ceremony and panel discussion will take place at the University Center Ballroom.
- Yell Night Pep Rally: 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11. The Yell Night Pep Rally will take place on the UM Oval and feature the UM Marching Band, Grizzly Football team with Coach Bobby Hauck and lighting of the M.
- Homecoming Parade: 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. Staging will be in downtown Missoula, near the intersection of Higgins Avenue and Spruce Street. The parade will move south along Higgins Avenue, across Beartracks Bridge and turn east onto University Avenue toward campus.
- Alumni Tailgate: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. After the Homecoming Parade be sure to check out the Alumni Tailgate hosted at the River Bowl, near the Adam’s Center and Washington Grizzly Stadium for some pre-game fun.
UM’s annual Homecoming football game will kick off at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, when the Griz take on Northern Arizona in Washington-Grizzly Stadium. If you can't be there in person, you can hear the play-by-play live on KZIN 96.7fm.
