Teachers: Registration Open For The Montana Advanced Placement® Summer Institute
Helena, Mont. – The 2016 Montana Advanced Placement® Summer Institute will give Montana high school educators an opportunity to receive professional training that will raise academic standards and improve college and career readiness among their students.
The Montana AP® Summer Institute is June 27-30 in Bozeman. At the institute, teachers will learn how to develop effective strategies for teaching an AP course. This year, the workshops offered emphasize the growing importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) in the classroom: AP® Biology, AP® Statistics, and AP® English Literature and Composition.
By providing access to the Advanced Placement® training, the Montana Office of Public Instruction seeks to help schools increase the rigor of class work and the quality of teaching.
“Students who take challenging coursework are more likely to graduate and go on to earn a college degree,” Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau said. “In the increasingly competitive job market, these Advanced Placement® courses will give our students a boost in preparing for college, careers or the military.”
This is the second year of the Montana AP® Summer Institute, organized through a partnership between the Montana Office of Public Instruction and Southwest Montana School Services.
