On today's MSU Extension Minute, Pondera Country Agent Wendy Wedum presented a checklist to be sure you and your vehicles are ready for Winter.

First, have your car serviced. Check:

  • Fluid Levels correct?
  • Washer Reservoir full?
  • Heater Working?
  • Defroster working?
  • Winter Tires
  • Check tread depth
  • Check tire pressure
  • Spare tire in good shape?
  • Battery fully powered?
  • Are the battery terminals clean?
  • Replace worn windshield wipers

Keep your gas tank at least half full. This assures you'll be able to run the engine and keep warm if you're stranded and waiting for assistance.

These tools and supplies should be kept in each vehicle:

  • shovel
  • sandbag
  • jumper cables
  • tow rope or chain
  • windshield scraper with brush
  • flashlight
  • cell phone charger or power source
  • water
  • snack foods
  • a blanket or sleeping bag
  • extra hats, socks, mittens
  • basic first aid kit
  • pocket knife
  • flares, reflectors
  • florescent flagging tape
