KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Due to the off week with all of the local sporting events cancelled due to weather, we are back tracking to honor two athletes who have been very deserving but just missed when they were nominated earlier.
Female Athlete of the Week honors for Shelby Fr. Rowen Russell who has literally won just about every Golf Tournament she has played in this season. The victories include The Conrad Invitational, The St. Patrick's Academy Invitational in Great Falls at the Meadowlark, The Shelby Invitational and the Wolf Point Invitational. The Tournament at Wolf Point, where this year's Class B Divisional will be held, was especially, eye-opening. According to Shelby Coach Lisa Clark, Rowen shot a very "uncharacteristic" 51 on the front nine. For many that would mean we'll wait for another day, but Rowen was able to gather herself, re-group and cut 11 strokes off, on the back nine and still win the Tournament with a 91. Competitors beware, Rowen has 3 more years after this and she's also outstanding in Volleyball and on the Basketball Court.
Our Male Athlete is an All-State Football player, An All-Conference Basketball player and an All-State Track & Field performer. CJI Jr. Dane Grammar is the defending Champion in both the Shot Put and the Discus and is on pace to repeat in both of those events. Earlier this year, Dane pre-qualified in both events while setting a new personal best in the shot put and setting a long-standing Chester School record with a throw of 51'3.5 inches. He won both the Shot Put and the Discus at the Cal Wearley Memorial in Havre and again at the Choteau Acantha Invitational.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Shelby Fr. Rowen Russell, and CJI Jr. Dane Grammar.
