LOCAL SPORTS – “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”

(UNDATED) – KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week are both Champions after just one week of the H.S. Wrestling season.

Both our Male and Female Athlete’s won Championships in opening Tournaments at Cascade and Havre and looked very strong doing it.

Our Male Athlete of the Week is Conrad So. Tegan Jones who won the Championship in Cascade at 182 pounds.   Conrad Head Wrestling Coach Luke Schlosser says Tegan had a “tough bracket to fight thru be he wrestled really well.”    The Coach says, “he has worked hard in the practice room, he’s in shape and he didn’t make many mistakes.”     Coach Schlosser added, “Overall he just looked really good and especially for this early in the year.”

Jones victory along with a Championship from Chris Graham pushed Conrad to the Team Title in Cascade and their Girls team also won the Championship. Tegan is the son of past Conrad State Champion Erin Jones.

We also had a quality nomination for Shelby Wrestler Ryland Larson who finished 2nd at the Cascade Invitational at 145 lbs.  Larson won all matches by pin, until the Championship.

Our Female Athlete of the Week also has wrestling blood in the family. CJI Sr. Savannah Riggin won the Girls Championship at the Havre Invitational in the 132–145-pound weight class.   Riggin won all 5 of her matches Havre by pin.  She was a State Qualifier a year ago and Hawks Head Coach Darin Stanley says she really got off to a good start for her Sr. season.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96-Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, So. Tegan Jones of Conrad and Sr. Savannah Riggin of CJI.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals each.
