LOCAL SPORTS – “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”

(Undated) – KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week played critical roles in their team’s success in X-Country and Volleyball.

Male Athlete of the Week honors go to Browning Sr. Preston Iron Heart.  Browning Coach Roy McNabb says Iron Heart’s work ethic from sleep to diet to training is exceptional and thru that he competes well every week and provides incentive for his teammates.

In the Western A Divisional Iron Heart ran to a 4th place finish with his best time of the year at 16:37. He actually finished about 10-seconds behind teammate Jerdan Crawford and the pair led the Browning boys to the Team Championship.

Iron Heart also won the Mission Shadow Duals two weeks ago and has a 2nd place finish at the Thompson Falls Invitational and the Browning Invitational.  Coach McNabb believes he’ll definitely be a top 5 finisher at this weekend’s State A meet in Kalispell.

Our Female Athlete of the Week could be considered an unsung hero, but just mainly because of the position she plays.  Shelby So. Setter Addison Richman has her hands on the ball on nearly every play and did a great job this past week setting it up for the big hitters up front.

Shelby came up with a couple of key conference wins over Conrad and Chinook and in both of those matches Addison recorded a 100-percent serve rate, including the final two points in game 5 which Shelby won 16-14.

She was also credited with numerous digs and dug at least three balls out of the net.

Shelby Head Coach Lexy Fisher noted that Addison has not only been an offensive leader, but “has been working hard at defense and it’s really showing up on the court.”

We also had nominations this week for Addisyn Harrell of Cut Bank for her play against Malta and Shelby QB Kyle McDermott, 150 yards passing and 1Td against Fort Benton.

`               Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Preston Iron Heart of Browning and Addison Richman of Shelby.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our athlete’s with two free value meals each.
