Blacked Out 406 Done; New Taxi Service Coming to GF in April

A few familiar vehicles that frequently are seen across the Great Falls and Central Montana area will be missing beginning March 7, 2026.  Blacked Out 406 taxi service in the city will end operations on Friday March 6, with the last ride going out at 10pm.

And while losing that local business is going to hit pretty hard for those that require outside transportation for work, appointments and more, we won't have to wait long for a new service to begin operating in the Electric City.

Blacked Out 406 Done; New Taxi Service Coming to GF in April

Mentions of the taxi service closing in Great Falls began on social media last weekend, and throughout the week, confirmations came from those answering the phone at the business that this would be the final week for them.

As the business was the only taxi service in town, many were left wondering if there would be a new option besides Uber or Lyft in Great Falls.  Thankfully, another Montana business will be stepping in to the role of taxi service in Great Falls, with hopes to be operating by April.

New Taxi Service Hails from Helena, Montana and Will Set Up Shop in Great Falls

Sunshine Taxi Service, based in Helena and with operations in several cities in the state, including Butte and Bozeman, will be making the move to Great Falls in the next coming month.  Owner Vito Warmus stated through social media that:

I currently own Sunshine Taxi in Helena Montana. Seeing the current demand for taxi service in Great Falls and after the former service has unfortunately closed its doors, Sunshine Taxi be expanding to the Great Falls area in April. We will make posts and announcements on what day soon.

The new service operates 24/7, with their socials stating, "whether you require a reliable ride to the airport, short-long, we are committed to providing safe, punctual, and professional service."  You can learn more about them here.
