Yesterday, Verizon customers all across the country experienced a massive outage that left users with a satellite icon and the letters "SOS" at the top of their phones.

The outage dragged on for hours and according to CNET, affected nearly 200,000 consumers and out of those 200,000... just ONE Montana man was affected.

Verizon Offers Up $20 Credit For Customers Affected By Big Outage

As I was leaving work yesterday to get my truck worked on, I immediately noticed my phone went into satellite mode with the letters "SOS" at the top. As I scrolled through, I noticed an old app alert about Verizon experiencing a massive outage.

When I finally got home where I could be on my Wi-Fi, I took to Facebook to ask folks in Montana if any of them were having issues with Verizon.

"Nope. Montana is just fine," Shane A. commented.

"Works in the Choteau/Bynum/Pendroy area," another wrote.

As it turned out - not one, single person from Montana had an issue with their phone. When I asked around my office, I still was the only one who had issues with Verizon yesterday.

Could it be that I'm the only one in Montana who was a part of Verizon's big outage?

What Is Verizon Doing For Customers Affected By Outage?

Maybe it's because I have a Texas area code in my phone still but I have yet to meet or hear about anyone else in Montana being affected by this outage.

Despite that, Verizon is still offering up reimbursement for those (AKA this lone person in Montana) affected by the outage with a $20 credit on accounts according to a statement on their site.

"This credit isn’t meant to make up for what happened. No credit really can," Verizon said in their statement.

"But it’s a way of acknowledging our customers' time and showing that this matters to us."

Verizon has yet to reveal what caused the outage but has denied any data breaches. If for some reason, I'm not the only man in Montana who experienced this outage, you can claim your credit inside the Verizon app.
