The Most Sinful Cities In Montana Might Shock You
Generally, when the topic of sinful cities comes up, Las Vegas is at the top of the list.
But even here in the northwestern territory, we have our fair share of less-than-innocent towns.
After all, the Wild West is still alive and well here in Montana, right? haha
So, with that said, what are some of the most sinful cities here in the Treasure State?
Montana’s Surprising Dark Past
At first glance, Montana may seem unlikely when you think about indulgence and sin.
We're known for our wide open landscapes and rugged beauty and seem pretty removed from the vices of urban centers.
But when you dig into Montana's history, you'll find that this seemingly innocent state has a rough past.
The Cost of Indulgence
It's no secret that there are casinos on just about every corner of every town in Montana.
Gambling addictions alone result in over $100 billion in annual losses for Americans.
On the other hand, smoking drains a staggering $600 billion each year.
To uncover the extent of these darker aspects of society, WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of over 180 U.S. cities, examining key indicators related to vices and illicit behaviors.
The Methodology: Measuring Sin Across America
To investigate the most sinful cities in America and right here in Montana, WalletHub examined 37 key indicators.
These indicators were everything from violent crime per capita to the number of adult entertainment establishments in the region.
In total, 182 cities were evaluated, including the 150 most populous cities and at least two cities from each state.
The study was divided into seven primary dimensions of vice:
- Anger and Hatred
- Jealousy
- Excess and Vices
- Greed
- Lust
- Vanity
- Laziness
