WARNING: FDA Recalls Millions of Pounds of Rice Due to Glass

When you're always on the go, finding an easy, quick, and inexpensive meal is essential. For some, that means heating up some good ol' ready-to-heat chicken fried rice. And why not? It's always a good time for some fried rice, am I right?

But not so fast... a recent recall was announced that might have some double-checking those Best By Dates a little more carefully.

FDA Announces Major and DANGEROUS Recall on Fried Rice Sold in Montana

According to a report from the FDA, Ajinomoto Foods North America Inc. is recalling a combined 36,987,575 pounds of product that includes "ready-to-eat (RTE) and NRTE chicken and pork fried rice, ramen, and shu mai dumpling products."

You might be asking what could cause a company to recall that much food. The answer? Glass.

"The problem was discovered when the establishment notified FSIS that it received multiple consumer complaints involving glass found in product," the FDA said in their report.

"Upon further investigation, the establishment determined that a vegetable source ingredient, specifically carrots, was the likely source of the glass contamination, which also impacted the additional products subject to this expanded recall."

I don't know about you, but that's somewhat terrifying. Thankfully, the FDA says there have been no injuries reported "due to the consumption of this product."
