Most would agree Montana's rich history is "seeded" in the land on which it sits upon. For generations, Montanans have cultivated a work ethic that has allowed us to live off the land and livestock.

Now, Governor Gianforte is celebrating that rich history and its future with a proclamation.

Governor Gianforte Proclaims FFA Week in Montana

In a post shared to Facebook on Tuesday (2/24), Governor Gianforte declared this week as FFA Week in Montana.

"Through FFA, young Montanans are building leadership skills and gaining real-world experience," the governor said in his post.

"Great to recognize this week as FFA Week."

The Importance of FFA for Montana

Founded in 1928, Future Farmers of America's mission is simple according to their official site: "Prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding a growing population."

The Montana FFA was founded in 1930 with 26 charter chapters and 443 members according to Montana FFA website but as you might imagine, they've grown quite a bit since then.

According to their site, the Montana FFA has "grown to over 5,000 members and 100 chapters."

And while farming's in the name, it's not their only game. The FFA also welcomes members who are aspiring to become "teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more."

Governor Gianforte's Loyalty to the Montana Ag Community

Governor Gianforte supporting Montana ag should come as no surprise to absolutely anyone.

Last January after MAGIE 2026, Governor Gianforte caught up with 560 KMON to share his important message to the ag community:

"To each farmer: Thank you," Governor Gianforte shared in the exclusive interview.

"And if there's something we can do, I'm proud that we have a farmer in charge of the Department of Agriculture in Jillian Street from Chester. She's walked in your shoes and we want to be your partner in making sure you have a fruitful future in front of you."
