When you think of the Atlanta Falcons, football fields in Montana probably aren't the first thing that comes to mind.

But the Falcons, along with team owner Arthur Blank, are playing a big role in one of the fastest-growing sports in the Treasure State.

This week, the Atlanta Falcons are hosting free flag football clinics for both younger kids and high school athletes across Montana, with details found here.

While the clinics are very exciting, the bigger story is what's happening behind the scenes.

The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, in partnership with the Atlanta Falcons, has awarded grants to 11 more Montana schools to launch girls flag football programs for the upcoming season.

That brings the total number of schools offering girls flag football in Montana to 39, as Belgrade, Billings Central, Bozeman, Great Falls CMR, Centerville, Helena Capital, Helena High, Bozeman Gallatin, Glasgow, Great Falls High and Park City were all given grants.

The Future Of Girls Flag Football In Montana Looks Bright

When you consider the sport began in Montana with just three teams in 2022, adding 36 schools in only four years is pretty incredible. At this point, girls flag football isn't just a new idea in Montana. It's quickly becoming an established high school sport.

A lot of that growth wouldn't be possible without support like this. The grants help schools pay for things like equipment, uniforms, and other startup costs that can make launching a new program possible.

For the students at these schools, it's another chance to compete, represent their communities, and be part of something that's growing year after year.

It's been fun watching girls flag football take off across Montana, and with 39 schools now on board, all signs point to girls flag football becoming a permanent part of Montana's high school sports landscape.
