GIANFORTE: “WALLS WORK.”
(BOZEMAN) – REPUBLICAN U-S REPRESENTATIVE GREG GIANFORTE OF MONTANA SAYS HE MADE A PERSON VISIT TO THE U-S SOUTHERN BORDER RECENTLY TO FIND OUT FOR HIMSELF, IF THE SITUATION AT THE BORDER WAS A REAL CRISIS.
HE SAYS AFTER SPEAKING WITH NUMEROUS RANCHERS AND BORDER PATROL AGENTS HE WAS CONVINCED IT IS NOT ONLY A NATIONAL SECURITY CRISIS BUT ALSO A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS.
IN ADDITION TO THE WALL, GIANFORTE SAYS, BORDER PATROL AGENTS ARE ASKING FOR OTHER TOOLS THAT ARE RELATIVELY SIMPLE.
"THEY'RE WEARING HEAVY BODY ARMOR IN THE DESERT, WHERE IT'S OVER 120°. THEY WANT LIGHTER BODY ARMOR," HE SAID.
A HAND-HELD DEVICE CALLED A DENSITY TESTER CAN EASILY DETECT CONTRABAND HIDDEN IN VEHICLES, BUT GIANFORTE TOLD KSEN/K96 NEWS, THERE IS ONLY ONE DETECTOR AT A PORT, BEING SHARED BY DOZENS OF AGENTS, SO MANY VEHICLES PASS THROUGH THE BORDER STATION WITHOUT A THOROUGH INSPECTION.
BUT, THE CONGRESSMAN SAID, EVERY AGENT HE TALKED TO TOLD HIM "WALLS WORK. WE NEED ALL THESE OTHER THINGS, BUT WE NEED A WALL AS WELL."
IN A LIVE INTERVIEW THIS (THURS.) MORNING GIANFORTE SAID EVERYONE OF THE RANCHERS THAT HE TALKED TO ALONG THE BORDER HAD FOUND A DEAD BODY ON THEIR PROPERTY.
ACCORDING TO “DR.’S WITHOUT BORDERS” 30-PERCENT OF THE WOMEN WHO TRAVELED IN CARAVANS TO THE BORDER HAD BEEN SEXUALLY ASSAULTED AND ONE RANCHER WHO HAD PUT UP CAMERA’S SAID APPROXIMATELY 10-THOUSAND ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WERE CROSSING JUST HIS PROPERTY EACH YEAR AND “SOME COULD ACTUALLY BE SEEN CARRYING THE DRUGS.”
THE METHAMPHETAMINES COMING INTO MONTANA ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT COMING FROM THERE.
