Crimestoppers Consumer Warning

Toole County Sheriff's Office has received a complaint of possible fraud. The caller identifies himself as Shawn Wood, calling from 646-658-3167 and claims to be from the Shelby Police Department. He tells the person they owe the Department money and will be arrested if he is not paid. Upon calling this number back, they identify themselves as a financial institution. Toole County Sheriff's Office also may have received a call from this person wanting information for our local Ambulance Service. When denied information, the caller hung up. When researching the number on 645-658-3167 on the internet, it is linked to several scam complaints. This number originates in New York. The caller may have an Indian (India) accent. If you receive a call from this number claiming to be with Shelby Police Department or Shelby Ambulance, or a call with any of the above criteria, do not give out any personal information.
