Chase Rice Counting on Brantley Gilbert to Keep Him Out of Trouble on Tour
Although Chase Rice is the singer behind boozy anthems such as "I Like Drinking, Cause It's Fun," he's able to count on the several-years sober Brantley Gilbert to steer him away from trouble on the road. The pair's kinship fires up again when the two stars head out together on the 2020 Fire't Up Tour come January.
Rice revealed as much when talking to Taste of Country Nights during 2019's CMA Awards week. Asked if Gilbert helps keep him in line while the two are crisscrossing the country, Rice made no bones about the pair's relationship. In fact, the duo's rapport got a boost on the "Bottoms Up" singer's recent Kick It in the Ship Cruise.
"He does, man," Rice says of his fellow performer's careful companionship. "We were on a boat last week, on his Kick it in the Ship. And that was cool for me because he and I spent a lot of time together. He and I are cut from the same cloth — we're the same type of people. And he and I are going to have a lot of fun together."
But that doesn't mean the two singers, both 34, have the type of fun that kicks Gilbert off the wagon. Rice indicates his regard for the performer is too great for that.
"I respect Brantley a lot because he and I have done it in very, very similar ways," Rice explains. "He's just been doing it way, way longer than I have."
As for new music from Rice, the singer says it's on the way directly. "Lonely If You Are" found its way to listeners' ears earlier this year. But the musician says there's more where that came from. Be sure to catch him on Gilbert's Fire't Up Tour next year — see the concert dates down below.
"I'm not going to wait, I'm going to go ahead and put out new music" Rice reveals. "I'm going to put out some acoustic stuff through the fall. And then sometime in January, I'm going to drop those same songs I put out acoustic, but put the fully produced versions of those out."
