Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks reports the general fishing season on our rivers & streams in the Western Montana Fishing District will NOT open until NEXT Saturday, May 16th, in "mos"t places. Essentially, most rivers & streams & creeks in Western Montana will remain CLOSED for fishing until a week from THIS Saturday, although some such as the infamous Bitterroot, Blackfoot & Clark Fork ARE open year-round with specific regulations for the off season. Lakes & reservoirs ARE OPEN to fishing year-round, along with a few western Montana streams/creeks & rivers. Best thing to do is to check the Montana Fishing Regulations for the complete list of season dates & specific regulations. Speaking as the former executive producer of our Old Fishing Hole program, I'll on "standby" to report any & all changes, updates & upcoming developments on our Big Sky waters...
