(FAIRFIELD) – OUR KSEN/K96—BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETES OF THE WEEK ONCE AGAIN HAVE THE FAIRFIELD EAGLES OFF TO A STRONG START IN FOOTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL. BOTH TEAMS BEAT SOLID OPPONENTS OVER THE WEEKEND.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS GO TO SR. KYLER BAKE OF THE LADY EAGLES VOLLEYBALL TEAM AND EVEN THOUGH HER STATS WERE MORE IMPRESSIVE IN THE OPENING WEEKEND OF THE SEASON, MAKE NO DOUBT SHE WAS KEY IN FAIRFIELD’S SLUGFEST VICTORY OVER ONE OF THE BEST CLASS C VOLLEYBALL PROGRAMS IN THE STATE………THE BELT HUSKIES.

IN THAT MATCH, KYLER HAD JUST 2 KILLS BUT 3 BLOCKS AND 8 BIG ASSISTS. MOTHER AND COACH COURTNEY BAKE SAYS AFTER PLAYING FRONT ROW ONLY HER ENTIRE CAREER, KYLER IS NOW ADJUSTING TO SETTING FROM THE BACK ROW AS WELL. THE COACH SAYS SHE HAS GREAT COURT SENSE AND IS A GREAT LEADER.

IN THAT OPENING WEEKEND, KYLER HAD 10 KILLS AND 7 BLOCKS AGAINST GLASGOW, AND THEN 12 KILLS AND 8 BLOCKS WITH 12 ASSISTS IN A KNOCK-DOWN, DRAG OUT BATTLE AGAINST THOMPSON FALLS WHICH THE EAGLES WON.

THE EAGLES FOOTBALL TEAM ALSO STARTED THEIR SEASON WITH A VICTORY AGAINST THE MISSOULA LOYOLA SACRED HEART RAMS. ONE OF THE UPCOMING EAGLES STARS FROM LAST YEAR STEPPED UP BIG IN THE OPENING GAME.

RUNNING BACK MIGUEL PEREZ RAN FOR 2 OF THE EAGLES 3 TOUCHDOWNS AND TOTALED 128 YARDS RUSHING OVERALL. 1ST YEAR HEAD COACH GREG MISNER CALLED IT A SOLID PERFORMANCE AND SAID MIGUEL IS VERY FUNDAMENTAL AND PLAYED A STRONG GAME AT HIS DEFENSIVE LINEBACKER POSITION AS WELL. THE COACH ALSO NOTED THE PLAY OF GAVIN MILLS WHO INTERCEPTED TWO PASSES……LEADING THE EAGLES TO 22-0 SHUTOUT WIN OVER LOYOLA.
