Our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week are heating up on the track and in the field as we approach dates for District meets, but our Athlete’s for this week have already pre-qualified for the State meet in their primary events.

Our female Athlete of the Week is Sunburst Jr. Claire Bucklin, an outstanding 3-sport Athlete who came on strong in her main events the 100m and 300m hurdles at a large meet, the Mustang Invitational and then the Top 8 meet in Great Falls on Tuesday.

Bucklin’s versatility has seen her compete in the 100, 200, 400, and the Long Jump at different times this year and she’ll consistently compete for a top spot in those events, but in the hurdles she really shines.

Her time in the Mustang Invitational at 47.79 in the 300m event not only pre-qualified her for the State meet it also put her among the top 13 hurdlers in the State, All-Class.  She has also pre-qualified in the 100m Hurdles and is among the Top 20 in the State, All-Class.

Bucklin was also a top 20 finisher in the State X-Country meet last fall and had a number of 30-point games in Basketball and was an All-State selection.

Our Mail Athlete of the Week has also hit a personal best in his main event.  Conrad Sr. Zack Durnell went 13’4” in the Pole Vault.  The jump was his personal best this season and it gave him the 4th best jump in the State All-Class for the season.   The top mark for the year is 14’7” and there’s 3 – 14-foot jumps, followed by 6 who have 13” 6”inches and then Durnell with the 13’4”.

Zack also ran a leg in Conrad’s 1st place 400-relay run at the Top 8 and had a 7th place finish in the Shot Put.

We also had a nomination this week for Valier Sophomore Dillon Connelly, who is competing in 5 Track & Field events in every meet.  His nominator says he continually improves and really has become a Team leader with his motivation and great determination.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week, Jr. Claire Bucklin of Sunburst and Sr. Zack Durnell of Conrad.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals each.
