Athlete of the Week
– Our KSEN/K96 – Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week are performing at peak levels as the wrestlers gear up for this week’s Divisional Tournament and basketball players are getting close.
Female Athlete of the Week honors go to Valier Sr. Hannah Monroe who has excelled in whatever sport she chooses to participate in. This year it’s wrestling where Monroe has dominated opponents at 186 lbs. She is sporting a 28-3 season record and is at or near the top of the State Rankings.
Her nominator told us that coaches around the area seem to agree that Monroe has the ability to control matches to the point that if she wants it to be over, it is and if she wants to continue it does.
In her 4-year career at Valier She’s had All-Conference, All-State, and Academic All-State honors in Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, and Wrestling. Monroe was a 4th place finisher at the State Meet last year.
Browning Head Basketball Coach, Dan Connelly says in two years as a starter, our Male Athlete of the Week is playing better than ever. 5’10” shooting guard Brayds Vielle had a big weekend as Browning picked up solid wins over Shelby and then Ronan.
Vielle has always been a top scorer but now is also Browning’s top rebounder and is currently 2nd in steals and 2nd in assists, with almost 6 per game, in the Northwest A Division. He is also currently 3rd in scoring.
In Last week’s two games he scored 41 points, had 18 rebounds, 12 assists and 7 steals. As far as the steals go, Coach Connelly says he’s “cat quick,” and overall has a great sense of what’s happening all over the court.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Sr. Hannah Monroe of Valier and Sr. Brayds Vielle of Browning. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals each.
KSEN encourages, fans, Parents, and Coaches to nominate an Athlete of the Week if you think they have had an above average performance.
