Our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy athletes of the week are both “double double,” value to their teams.

Maybe you have noticed that the Simms tigers are off to a 9-0 start and leading the 10c district with a 7-0 conference record. Maybe you have also noticed that the tigers are getting a lot of contributions from a number of different players and one of those is senior Kaidin Thibert. Simms head coach Chris Daniel says Thibert has all the qualities of leadership, is a 4.0 student in the classroom and a work ethic to go with it. The coach calls his 6-2 post player “solid on the boards,” and definitely his teams’ leading rebounder. That could be enough right there, but he can also score and did it in bunches this past weekend. Thibert hit for 30-points against sunburst last Thursday, then 23 against power Friday night and 17 more in a win over Centerville on Saturday. We might call him a star among stars on a very promising Tiger basketball team.

And speaking of double doubles, that’s exactly what Shelby senior Maddison Underdal has produced since returning from a knee injury. She led the coyotes to their 1st win of the year and in succession, three consecutive conference wins. In the first game of the return, Maddison put up 19 points, and then followed up with 22 against Conrad with 11 rebounds and on Saturday 18 points against Rocky Boy with 13 rebounds and seven of those were offensive boards.

Also nominated this week, sophomore Jori Clary who exploded with four three-point shots in the third quarter that helped the Lady Coyotes ensure the win at Rocky Boy.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy athletes of the week, senior Kaidin Thibert of Simms and senior Maddison Underdal of Shelby. The athlete of the week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our athletes with two free value meals each.
