Asteroid to Just Miss Earth Tonight. Watch It Live!
Do you see the white spot in the center of this photo?
It took me a while to find it, too. That's near Earth Asteroid 2003 DZ15, It's about 5 football fields wide, and it's expected to zip past us this evening. At 2.2 million miles, it's an astronimcal "near miss", and scientists say there's no chance of a collision with our home planet...not on this pass, anyway. The pass-by is scheduled for 6:37pm Mountain Time. if you'd like to watch, click HERE to join live coverage, beginning at 4:00pm on the Virtual Telescope Project website.
