Ashley McBryde Is 2019’s CMA Awards New Artist of the Year

A huge congratulations to Ashley McBryde, who took home the title of New Artist of the Year at the 2019 CMA Awards on Wednesday evening (Nov. 13). Other nominated artists in the category included Cody Johnson, Midland, Carly Pearce and Morgan Wallen.

After some requisite joking around, presenters Jim Gaffigan and Blanco Brown presented Ashley McBryde with the award, to the crowd's obvious delight.

"I once had the pleasure of playing a tribute show for John Prine, and he said, 'You're real good. You're not Reba, but you're good," a smiling McBryde shared during her acceptance speech. "I cherish those little moments like that, that are true guidance from voices we respect and admire. I'm grateful for that and for this, for the opportunity to step up. Thank you."

McBryde adds another new artist accolade to an already impressive collection of awards, the most recent of which is the title of 2019 CMT Breakout Artist of the Year. Her star rose rapidly after the 2018 release of her major-label debut, Girl Going Nowhere. She is also the reigning ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year.

Known for a tough, musically traditional delivery paired with compelling storytelling, McBryde most recently released her new single, "One Night Standards." That song is the first taste of an as-yet-unnamed new album, which is expected out in early 2020. In the meantime, the rising star has been keeping busy with a stacked touring schedule, including dates opening for Miranda Lambert's all-female 2019 Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour.
