Woman Finds 29 Double-Yolk Eggs in a Single Carton [VIDEO]

double-yolk eggs

Hope she wasn’t planning to make meringue. Charlotte Matthews, a cake decorator from Rochdale, England beat the odds this past Sunday when she cracked open 29 double-yolk eggs in a row. According to, these unusual eggs result when “ovulation occurs too rapidly or when one yolk somehow gets ‘lost’ and is joined by the next yolk.” The chance of even finding one is estimated at one in 1,000.

After cracking open 13 double yolks in a row, she asked her husband to film as she went through the rest of the box she purchased from an Asda supermarket, a British subsidiary of Wal-Mart.

When Matthews was asked what she thinks she’ll do with all the double yolks, she said she “will probably just make a cake with them – or lots of scrambled eggs.”
