Toby Keith began his performance of his monster hit ‘Red Solo Cup’ while walking through the crowd at the 2012 ACM Awards tonight (April 1) with a  — you guessed it — red Solo cup in one hand and a microphone in the other. The singer roamed amongst the people for the course of the entire song, and most of the audience members were also holding their own disposable receptacles — aka the things that are not just a cup but a friend. Nothing like a prop to make a point!

Like Eric Church before him, Keith wore sunglasses while inside the auditorium and a baseball cap as he navigated through the audience. The camera panned to the likes of Carrie Underwood singing along and grooving in her seat along with Keith.

During the song, Keith was also joined by comedian Carrot Top for a hot second, who was getting in on the ‘Red Solo Cup’ action.

For five minutes, the 2012 ACM Awards were a party hosted by the one and only Toby Keith, who was clearly having a good time and not taking things too seriously, much like the lyrics of the song.

Let’s have a party!
