Being the Executive Producer of KSEN's "Old Fishing Hole" program, I have a suggestion for the PERFECT gift for Dad AND Grandpa; FREE fishing over this Father's Day weekend. Jeff Hagener...he's the director of Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks down in Helena, & Jeff says, "You can fish without a license THIS Saturday & Sunday"! This is a great way to get outdoors in our Big Sky this weekend with friends & family & it provides everyone in Montana with the opportunity to get "hooked" on fishing. I agree with Jeff when he says, "Montana's "Fish For Free" weekend is the state's Father's Day gift to dad's everywhere." Those wishing to take advantage of this opportunity need to be aware that fishing for bull trout requires a catch card & fishing for paddle fish requires a paddle fish tag. Forget bull trout & those piddling paddle fish, I'm a walleye man! I might add that in total, each year more than 230,000 Montana residents & 160,000 nonresidents purchase a Montana fishing license. Anglers spend about $240 million annually in Montana for things like transportation, food & guide fees. That's certainly a "lot of fish to fry." Don't forget when you fish without a license this weekend, you must follow all of Montana's other fishing regulations. If you don't & I get wind of it, I'll have to report you on our "Old Fishing Hole." I'm the Executive Producer! Thank you & GOOD FISHING to you this weekend & enjoy a happy Father's Day with your families! Have a fun time & always check conditions first & keep safety as your top concern.
